Winston Roye has been playing music all his life. Born in New York City, he was raised in Harlem, New York and Plymouth, New Hampshire, and currently splits his time between southern New Jersey and New York City.

Winston is a multi-instrumentalist, and studied a variety of musical instruments before focusing on the electric, upright, and keyboard bass, and drums. He was heavily influenced by European classical music, jazz, and the full spectrum of popular music and rock and roll. In addition to private music lessons and music summer camps as a child, he attended the famous Fiorello H. LaGuardia HS of Music And Art, in New York City, the Manhattan School Of Music, and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.

Winston has found touring and recording success in a variety of genres. In the jazz realm with Jack McDuff, and Ronald Shannon Jackson & The Decoding Society. As a drummer in Ace Of Base. In pop and rock music with: Lauryn Hill, Jewel, K’naan, and Enrique Iglesias, and for 10 years, he was the bass player for the Grammy Award winning rock band, Soul Asylum. He has also been the First Chair Bassist/In-House Contractor for the Broadway musicals, Rock Of Ages, Gettin’ The Band Back Together, Home For The Holidays, and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

Winston is currently playing with local blues guitarist Billy Hector, and Latin rocker Eljuri, and children’s artist Laurie Berkner. He is also in demand as a session musician. Winston is looking forward to the next journey, teaching.
