Rich Lupescu

Drums | Keys

Multi-instrumentalist Rich Lupescu spent his formative years in Michigan, studying classical percussion with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, concurrently studying marimba, drum kit, and piano while winning several rudimentary/military snare drumming awards. After graduating high school, Rich attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, initially as a vibraphone major. Eventually, he switched focus to piano, synthesizer/electronic music, and music production, graduating Magna Cum Laude as a keyboard principal with a degree in Music Synthesis. Spending more than two decades as a constantly working, gigging keyboardist and bandleader, primarily in Philadelphia and New Jersey areas, he has clocked in gigs literally in the thousands, which allows him to offer students of all ages abundant amounts of “practical” expertise in live performance, gig preparation, and the “little things” that are as important to a working musician as instrumental talent.

The past decade has found Rich rekindling his love of drum kit, continuing his life as a gigging musician, and has also expanded into a new passion, live audio production, helping other working musicians sound their very best by applying his years of live performance to his live sound/production work. Most recently, he has taken up bass guitar, specifically fretless, fulfilling a decades-long desire to tackle this unique, expressive instrument. Rich is available for lessons on drums, piano, percussion, music theory, keyboard/synth programming, and live sound reinforcement, specializing in students starting at the intermediate level, and has developed a strong rapport with adult students at all talent levels.
