Joe Parella is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist in the band Deal Casino and currently residing in Asbury Park, NJ. Joe studied guitar and songwriting at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has been instructing at Lakehouse since the beginning. Skilled within multiple styles and genres of music has also allowed him to be a session instrumentalist on many of the recordings that come out of Lakehouse for other artists. Joe teaches private lessons as well as group classes of all ages at our academy.

Natalie Newbold.jpg

At ten years old, Natalie Newbold picked up her first pair of drum sticks. Fifteen years later, she is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, lead singer, studio musician, producer, composer, teacher, and touring musician. Since high school, she has been playing historic and acclaimed venues throughout New Jersey like the Stone Pony and Starland Ballroom, and she has studied music theory at her alma mater, Rutgers University. In 2012, Natalie teamed up with her cousin, a local filmmaker named Tom Kircher, and composed the scores for his award-winning short films “The Dead Rose” and “Wraith.” She spends most of her weekends playing shows up and down the east coast as the guitarist and lead singer of the band Well Wisher.

Natalie has been a dedicated and inspiring teacher at Lakehouse Music Academy for the past 3 years working with both kids and adults. As an instructor, she combines real-life, practical musicianship, traditional theory, with a progressive teaching style that is both fun and enlightening for her students.

Pamela has been performing since childhood when she would put on shows in her living room for her family. She knew at a very early age that music was her passion. Upon graduating from the world renowned American Musical and Dramatic Academy she went on to perform at various cabarets in New York City as well as in Chile and Ireland. Pam is excited to be back in New Jersey sharing her passion for music with others and is incredibly grateful to be able to grow as a musician with Lakehouse Music Academy and Asbury Park.

Lisa graduated from The College of New Jersey with a degree in Music Education, where she studied piano with Dr. Tomoko Kanamaru and voice with Kathryn Moyer and Robert Guarino.  She is currently a full time general music teacher and has been teaching privately for over 8 years.  Aside from performing professionally, she also serves as an accompanist, guest conductor, and music director in various schools, churches, and ensembles throughout New Jersey.

Mackenzie Brown is a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist. Growing up in a household surrounded by music, Mackenzie has acquired a diverse background in many styles and generations of music. She is the lead vocalist and plays guitar and keyboard in the band MACK, based out of Asbury Park. The band has a fresh, new-age take on a classic sound. Mackenzie instructs vocals, piano, and guitar in group classes and in private lessons.

David Ross Lawn is a published and commissioned composer and performer of oboe, piano and voice. Upon graduating with a dual degree with honors in oboe and piano performance, David performed with various symphony orchestras, concert bands, choirs and opera companies around Scotland and beyond. He has also obtained certified ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall distinction and merits in advanced grades of oboe and piano performance. David was then admitted with scholarship to Westminster Choir College (Princeton) where he achieved a masters degree in Theory and Composition.


David's vocal training is primarily from a method coined as 'Yoga Voice,’ and has taken intensive courses in the practice, which combines the ideals of yoga and the training of operatic vocal training. He regularly performs in a variety of vocal styles, from opera crossing into contemporary musical theatre and modern styles. He has been a featured soloist and choral member in Grammy-nominated Williamson Voices, the Same Stream community of singers, and the Jubilee Singers. As a composer, he has received a number of awards and publishings with GIA Publications, and works freelance as both a composer and performer in his range of styles.

Emily Grove has had a varied and exciting musical journey, from high school choirs and coffeehouses to Berklee College of Music, to television appearances to tours in the UK and Europe. Being willing to jump into new adventures resulted in a two month tour of the UK, US, and Canada, opening up for and performing with British artist David Ford. She also had her own headlining tour in Germany, Bulgaria, and England. She sang backup for David Gray on the Today Show, and for Social Distortion at the Stone Post Summer Stage. She recently put on a sold out Joni Mitchell show, featuring some of Asbury Park’s most talented musicians. She’s performed regularly with Glen Burtnik in his many large productions, including “The Summer of Love” and his British Invasion, Beatles, and Last Waltz shows.  She’s opened for a host of national artists, including Brett Michaels at the State Theater of NJ. She’s recorded with David Ford, Glen Burtnik and UK artist Jack Henderson, among many others.

 As a solo act, she’s won awards for “Best Female Acoustic Act” at the 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Asbury Music Awards, and won three Jersey Acoustic Music Awards (best female singer [2011 and 2012]/female songwriter [2011]). She has recorded an EP, “Way Across the Sea” Produced by Jack Daley, and a full CD, “Life of A Commoner,” produced by Seventh Wave Studio, and is working on a new EP. She’s also painted herself gold for Tara Elliot’s performance of “Goldfinger”, danced next to Natalie Portman in a Bar Mitzvah scene on Saturday Night Live, and threw a girl out of a car for Darren Aronofsky’s Montana Meth commercial. Every day brings a new, unusual experience.
